Our Trustees

Take a look at the Trustees who support our organisation

Our trustees have an important part to play in shaping and directing RCAN. Find out more about them here.

Adam

I first learned about RCAN while serving as Chair of Governors at a Primary School. I was informed that they were seeking new Trustees with diverse experiences and backgrounds.

Currently, I serve as Chair of the RCAN Board. In this role, I lead our meetings and work closely with the Senior Management Team on various projects, discussions, and strategic planning.

I have a deep love for the outdoors and for working within communities. In addition to my role as Chair of Governors at a small rural Primary School, I am the Treasurer of Farnsfield Tennis Club. I also enjoy walking and cycling around rural Nottinghamshire and manage three businesses from our base here. I was born in Nottingham and have lived in the county my entire life. My personal experiences and interests have always closely aligned with the vision of RCAN and continue to do so.

Maurice Shakeshaft

My personal experiences and interests have always been close to the vision of RCAN and it is great to be part of the family.

I was introduced to RCAN by Farnsfield Parish Council and Newark & Sherwood District Council. I’ve been a resident in Nottinghamshire since 1994 and have always enjoyed the outdoor opportunities the county provides. The DoE (The Award) represents a great opportunity for helping young people and supporting the expedition/exploration training over many years was great fun.

Indeed, being part of the RCAN family is another opportunity to provide help and support to the outdoor world.

Paddy

Paddy has had a long-standing presence in Nottinghamshire, serving in various roles over the years. A qualified social worker, he held a senior position at Nottinghamshire County Council. After nearly two decades as the Member of Parliament for Sherwood, he became Nottinghamshire's first Police and Crime Commissioner. He now holds senior roles in the health sector. Additionally, he is actively involved in the voluntary sector, working with organisations such as Framework and the Nottinghamshire Community Foundation.

A passionate walker, Paddy is involved with the Ramblers and enjoys exploring the countryside with his grandchildren.

He has been a strong supporter of RCAN for many years.
