Welcome

Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire (RCAN) has been supporting local communities for over 100 years. We work alongside parish councils, community groups, village halls, and volunteers across the county to ignite, support, and sustain community action. Our mission is simple: to help create thriving, inclusive, and resilient communities, where everyone has the tools and confidence to make a difference.

Through our trusted membership offer, core projects, and a wide range of bespoke services, we provide expert advice on everything from governance, funding and volunteer recruitment to community consultation, publicity, and sustainability planning. Whether you’re a small volunteer-led group or a larger organisation, we tailor our support to meet your needs — no one-size-fits-all.

RCAN also leads on several funded programmes, including Say Now in Broxtowe and Talk, Learn, Connect in Rushcliffe, delivering Health Checks, training, and one-to-one guidance for community venues. Our  Cluster Forums bring groups together to share ideas, tackle challenges, and access practical support — so no one feels alone in managing their community facility.

We’re proud to be a voice for rural Nottinghamshire — whether it’s helping a village hall plan its future, supporting the Gypsy and Traveller community through our Travelling Together project, or providing insight that shapes local strategy.

If your group is looking for a supportive partner who understands community life and the challenges you face, RCAN is here to help.
